Every dollar raised by the Homeward Walk-Run will support the programs and services run by the partner agencies to move youth from high-risk situations to positive futures. These initiatives include:
● housing programs
● support services
● arts and creative outlet programs
● education and employment training
● basic needs support
● mental health and harm reduction programs
Every dollar raised is shared equally amongst the four partner agencies, e4c, Edmonton John Howard Society, iHuman, and Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS). It is the most powerful way to support the end of youth homelessness in our community.
Both the 5km and 10km start at Whitemud Park, Picnic site #1.
For the 5km route, runners will do an out-and-back heading west on the beautiful Fort Edmonton Park Trail returning to Whitemud Park.
The 10km runners will continue on Keillor Road doing an out-and-back heading east then north to University Ave and returning to Whitemud Park. Please note the 10km route includes the hill on Keillor Road.
ALERT: Route Change!
Due to Mother Nature”s unforeseen decision to make it rain like crazy and flood the trails, the route for the Homeward Walk|Run has been altered.
We are currently in the process of finalizing a new route. The 5km route will now be a 4.95km starting at the same place, going out on the Fort Edmonton Park trail and back and then up on the Snow Valley trail and back to the start/finish line. The 10km route will do the same and then up Keillor Rd as per the maps.
We appreciate your patience, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Limited parking is available in the lots surrounding picnic site #1 and #2. There is also parking available near the Alfred H. Savage Centre. Once the parking lots are full, overflow parking will start up the hill towards Fox Drive. Please note: There are only 150 available spots at the venue.
Because parking is limited, we strongly encourage carpooling, walking/riding to the event or taking public transit.
ETS has an awesome service to help you get there in time! Check it out here.
